Highlights from the ICRT summer concert
The sets, the crowd and the weather that nearly stopped it.
The rain arrived an hour before doors and stayed for the first two sets. The film does not pretend otherwise: it opens with a crew putting plastic over everything and a crowd deciding, collectively and without discussion, to stay.
What follows is the evening in the order it happened. The early acts playing to a field of ponchos. The set where the weather finally broke and the crowd noticed before the band did. The headline slot, which ran late because the changeover took longer than planned, and which nobody minded running late.
There is as much crowd as stage in the edit, deliberately. An outdoor show in a Taipei summer is as much about endurance as about music, and the faces tell that better than any wide shot does.
