    Advertising on ICRT

Taiwan's only English-language broadcaster, on three transmitters and two boosters from Taipei down to Kaohsiung.

    Who listens

ICRT is the only English-language broadcaster in Taiwan. It went on air in 1979 to serve the island's expatriate community, and that community is still its first mandate — but it is now about 5% of the audience. The other 95% are Taiwanese listeners who choose to spend part of the day in English, and the station is written and presented for both at once.

It is an independent non-profit, supervised by the Taipei International Community Cultural Foundation. It receives no government funding and is entirely self-supporting, so advertising and sponsorship are what pay for the programming: music, news and entertainment, every day of the week.

There are no listener numbers on this page. ICRT does not publish audience research, and a figure invented to fill the gap would be worse than the gap. Tell the commercial team what you are trying to achieve and they will answer with what the station can actually do.

    Where you can appear

    On air

Spots across the schedule, programme sponsorship, and credits read by the presenter on the show they sit in. Which parts of the day suit what you are selling is the first thing the commercial team will want to talk about.

    Online

This site, the podcast feed and the live stream. What is open at any given time depends on what else is running, so ask for the current list rather than working from this page.

    Events

Station events and community partnerships, for advertisers who would rather be in the room than on the hour. Usually planned further ahead than airtime.

    How it works

    1. Send a brief

What you are selling, who you need to reach and roughly when. A sentence is enough to start a conversation.

    2. We come back with options

Formats, placements and timings put against your brief, each with a price.

    3. You approve the plan

Including what needs producing, and when it has to be with us.

    4. It runs

And you get a record of what went out and when.

    Before you ask

Why is there no rate card?

Rates depend on the time of day, the length of the spot and the length of the campaign. A quote against a real brief gets you a real number instead of a headline one you would then have to negotiate away from.

    Can you produce the advertisement?

Say so when you enquire and production is quoted with the rest. The station has two production studios and makes nearly all of its own programming in them.

    Do you take short campaigns?

Yes. Tell us the window and you will get an honest answer about whether it is worth doing.

Start with a sentence about what you are trying to achieve. Mark the message for advertising and it reaches the commercial team rather than the newsroom.
