    Charity run for Helping Hands

Five and ten kilometre routes, with every entry going to the Helping Hands fund.

Two routes, five kilometres and ten, starting early enough to be finished before the heat arrives. Every entry goes to the Helping Hands fund.

This is not a race with a serious field. Some people will run it properly, and considerably more will walk the second half and stop for photographs. Both are welcome and both start together, which makes the first few hundred metres crowded and the rest of it fine.

The route is flat, shaded for much of its length and entirely inside the park, so there are no roads to cross and no hills to regret. Water is on the course and at the finish, and there is somewhere to sit down afterwards, which matters more than people admit.

Registration is in advance rather than on the day. Come earlier than you think you need to: the queue for the bag drop first thing in the morning is the one part of this event that has never been solved.
