The briefing exists for the twelve minutes between an alarm and a front door. It is not the whole news. It is the part you would be embarrassed not to know by lunchtime.
This morning: the overnight weather, the state of the roads and the rails, one story from the legislature, one from the region, and whatever the rest of the world did while Taipei slept. Sport if there is any, and the exchange rate only when it has done something worth mentioning.
We keep it in plain English on purpose. A briefing full of job titles and agency acronyms is a briefing nobody finishes, and a great many people listening are doing so in their second or third language.
You can hear it through the early hours on The Morning Show, or read it here as the desk gets it. Anything that changes after publication is added at the top rather than buried at the bottom, so the newest line is always the first one you read.
