Live desk: rolling updates through the day
How the rolling desk works, and what it will and will not tell you while a story is still moving.
When a story is still moving, this is where it lives. The live desk updates through the day, newest line at the top, with a time on every entry so you can see how old a piece of information is before you act on it.
What goes here: things that change. Roads, rails, flights, closures, warnings, and the occasional press conference that actually says something. What does not: rumour, an unverified photograph, or a number nobody has confirmed. If we are waiting on confirmation the line says we are waiting, which is more useful than a guess dressed up as a fact.
Corrections are posted as new entries rather than as quiet edits. If we got something wrong an hour ago you should be able to see that we got it wrong, and when we fixed it.
Everything here also goes out on air. On a fast day the radio is ahead of the page, so if it matters right now, listen on 100.7 and let the page catch up.
