ICRT Helping Hands beach clean-up
A morning on the sand with bags and gloves supplied. Bring water, a hat and sturdy shoes.
An early start and a morning on the sand. Bags, gloves and grabbers are supplied; everything else is up to you.
The work is straightforward and the company is good. People spread out along the beach in a loose line and work back towards the car park, and the morning goes faster than anybody expects. There is no target and no minimum stay — an hour is worth having, and if you need to leave early nobody will mind.
Bring water, a hat, and shoes you do not mind getting wet. The sun on that stretch of coast is stronger than it feels with the wind coming off the sea, and sunburn is the only injury this event has ever reliably produced.
The train to Fulong takes about an hour and a half from Taipei and leaves you a short walk from the beach, which is easier than driving and very much easier than parking. Sign up in advance so we bring enough gloves.
