The Morning Show, live on camera

Two hours of the weekday breakfast programme, as it goes out.

Two hours of breakfast radio, filmed as it goes out, with nothing cut and nothing added afterwards. What you hear on 100.7 is what you see, plus everything the microphone misses.

Which turns out to be most of it. Radio looks like very little happening and a great deal of preparation happening at speed: a running order reordered while a song plays, a traffic line rewritten thirty seconds before it is read, three people communicating entirely in hand signals because the fader is open.

The cameras are fixed and unattended, so nobody performs for them after the first ten minutes. You see the songs used as breathing space, the news junctions hit to the second, and the small negotiations about who speaks next that a listener never hears.

If you have ever wondered what happens in a studio during a three-minute record, the answer is on screen, and it is not sitting still. Watch the clock in the corner of the frame; almost everything in the room is arranged around it.
