Live music listings for the month ahead
A month of gigs across Taipei, from the basement rooms to the riverside stages.
The month ahead is busier than the last one, which is what usually happens once the worst of the heat lifts and an outdoor stage becomes bearable again.
The first half belongs to the small rooms. The basement venues around Da’an and Zhongshan have something on most nights, doors around eight, and a bill that often changes on the day — worth checking the venue rather than the listing before you set out.
Mid-month brings the larger shows, which means the arena and the riverside stages, which in turn means the MRT afterwards is not a pleasant experience. Leave during the encore or accept your fate; there is no third option.
The end of the month is festival-shaped. Several of the outdoor events run all day and are free to walk into, and they remain the easiest way to hear a dozen acts you did not know you wanted to hear. Listings are updated here as dates are confirmed, and venues are welcome to send us one — we would rather carry a small show than miss it.
